Google App Engine SDK 1.9.6

Google App Engine is a Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering that lets you build and run applications on Google’s infrastructure. App Engine applications are easy to build, easy to maintain, and easy to scale as your traffic and data storage needs change. With App Engine, there are no servers for you to maintain. You simply upload your application and it’s ready to go.

Google App Engine supports apps written in a variety of programming languages.

Java: Using App Engine’s Java runtime environment, you can build your application using standard Java technologies.

Python: App Engine features a fast Python interpreter and standard Python libraries.
PHP: App Engine uses Google's Cloud Platform services under the hood when you call standard PHP functions.
Go: App Engine features a Go runtime environment that runs natively compiled Go code.
Google App Engine makes it easy to build and deploy an application that runs reliably even under heavy load and with large amounts of data.

Applications run in a secure, sandboxed environment, allowing App Engine to distribute requests across multiple servers, and scaling servers to meet traffic demands. Your application runs within its own secure, reliable environment that is independent of the hardware, operating system, or physical location of the server.

SketchUp Make 14.1.1282

SketchUp is a 3D modeling program for applications such as architectural, interior design, civil and mechanical engineering, film, and video game design. A freeware version, SketchUp Make, and a paid version with additional functionality, SketchUp Pro, are available.

SketchUp is used by thousands of professionals in architecture, construction, engineering, commercial interiors, light construction, landscape architecture, kitchen & bath design, urban planning, game design, film & stage, woodworking, and plenty of other fields use SketchUp Pro all the time, every day. It’s the all-purpose antidote to complicated, expensive CAD software.

SketchUp is easy to use.there is an online Open source repository of free-of-charge model assemblies (e.g., windows, doors, automobiles, etc.), 3D Warehouse, to which users may contribute models.the program includes drawing layout functionality, allows surface rendering in variable "styles", supports third-party "plug-in" programs hosted on a site called Extension Warehouse to provide other capabilities (e.g., near photo-realistic rendering), and enables placement of its models within Google Earth.

SketchUp is like a pencil with superpowers. Start by drawing lines and shapes. Push and pull surfaces to turn them into 3D forms. Stretch, copy, rotate and paint to make anything you like. More advanced? Start modeling from CAD and terrain data, photographs or even hand sketches. Build models with custom behaviors and attributes. SketchUp Pro is as simple and as powerful as you want it to be.

SketchUp puts all of the help options in plain sight, which include video tutorials, tips and tricks, a blog, and a help center. It asks you to select a template from a long list that includes templates for architectural design, woodworking, Google Earth modeling, and basic plans. We started simple with the Beginning Training Template - Inches. The user interface is fairly basic in design, which is a good thing as some of these types of programs can be quite overwhelming. A toolbar at the top of the window includes the familiar menu options: Files, Edit, and View. There are also menu options to manage the Camera and Tools commands. A toolbox resides below with tools for creating and editing shapes, lines, and even adding building using Google Earth (you have to install the plug-in first). A helpful Instructor guided us through the setup process by creating simple lines going through each of the tools. In no time, we were creating shapes and designs, albeit very basic ones. The Tape Measure Tool let us measure our shapes, and the Eraser tool removed our mistakes.

Google and Motorola challenging Apple and Samsung with the new ' X Phone '

engineers at Motorola Mobility which was purchased by Google are working on a handset codenamed "X-phone", aimed at grabbing market share from Apple Inc and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, the Wall Street Journal said, citing people familiar with the matter.

Google acquired Motorola in May for $12.5 billion to bolster its patent portfolio as its Android mobile operating system competes with rivals such as Apple and Samsung.
a media report said Friday. Google has a team of engineers at Motorola developing the new device, which is expected to be introduced sometime next year, The Wall Street Journal said, citing unnamed sources. Shares of Google Inc were down nearly 1% in afternoon trades. Apple was down as well, off 1.2%.

Motorola plans to enhance the X Phone with its recent acquisition of Viewdle, an imaging and gesture-recognition software developer. The new handset is due out sometime next year, the business daily said, citing a person familiar with the plans.

The previously undisclosed development effort is a key facet of Google's strategy for boosting the minuscule market position of the cellphone pioneer, based partly on bolstering quality while reducing the quantity of Motorola products.

Motorola is primarily working on two fronts: devices that will be sold by carrier partner Verizon Wireless, such as the "Droid" line of smartphones, and the X phone, these people said. Motorola is also expected to work on an "X" tablet after the phone, the people added.

OpenSUSE 11.4 RC2

The openSUSE project is a worldwide effort that promotes the use of Linux everywhere. openSUSE creates one of the world's best Linux distributions, working together in an open, transparent and friendly manner as part of the worldwide Free and Open Source Software community.

The project is controlled by its community and relies on the contributions of individuals, working as testers, writers, translators, usability experts, artists and ambassadors or developers. The project embraces a wide variety of technology, people with different levels of expertise, speaking different languages and having different cultural backgrounds.

With red carpets rolling out in Hollywood, you’d expect some applause for the openSUSE 11.4 RC2 release, which has now gone live ahead of 11.4 proper. But with much of the hard work going in behind the scenes, this superb release candidate isn’t getting the fanfare it deserves. The recent Bug Squashing day saw 132 bugs updated so few serious issues remain. Improvements in the ‘backend’ work includes some tweaks to Wifi supplicant and drivers, and a host of small fixes across the distribution which enhance stability and performance. The addition of MediaCurl backend with zsync support to libzypp iut is already being noticed. openSUSE user and forum member Pier Andreit comments that “YaST install/remove software is a thunderbolt!”

The transition from OpenOffice.org to LibreOffice still has a few minor documentation blips but more importantly, users should be cautious. The raft of new functionality has created a few specific issues, such as loss of data in tables. Though not quite ready for the production environment, user feedback is critical for smoothing performance and reliability.

KDE SC 4.6 is also running beautifully though 32 BIT nVidia users may have a bug.
If you’d like to help add the final touches of celebrity glam prior to the ‘big event’ of 11.4 release.

Wary Puppy linux 5.1

Puppy is extraordinarily small, yet quite full-featured. Puppy boots into a ramdisk and, unlike live CD distributions that have to keep pulling stuff off the CD, it loads into RAM. This means that all applications start in the blink of an eye and respond to user input instantly. Puppy Linux has the ability to boot off a flash card or any USB memory device, CDROM, Zip disk or LS/120/240 Superdisk, floppy disks, internal hard drive. It can even use a multisession formatted CD-RW/DVD-RW to save everything back to the CD/DVD with no hard drive required at all.

Wary Puppy is Puppy Linux variant that targets support for older hardware, especially in the areas of video and analog modem dialup. Wary Puppy 5.1 is a bugfix and minor upgrade of Wary 5.0.The default kernel is now the long-term-supported 2.6.32.28. The PET package repository is still small but is growing, with many major applications added to it. For a "minor upgrade", rather a lot of applications have been upgraded, as well as one new one, the 'Wcpufreq' CPU frequency scaling tool. There have been numerous tweaks in the underlying infrastructure.

openSUSE 11.4 Milestone 3

openSUSE is a free and Linux-based operating system for your PC, Laptop or Server. You can surf the web, manage your e-mails and photos, do office work, play videos or music.
The openSUSE project has three main goals: make openSUSE the easiest Linux for anyone to obtain and the most widely used Linux distribution; leverage open source collaboration to make openSUSE the world's most usable Linux distribution and desktop environment for new and experienced Linux users; dramatically simplify and open the development and packaging processes to make openSUSE the platform of choice for Linux developers and software vendors.

the openSUSE project announces openSUSE 11.4 Milestone 3 (M3), the third of six milestone releases of what will become openSUSE 11.4. The bug, a crash in the software rasterizer of the Mesa OpenGL stack, was found by our automated test suite and the openSUSE XOrg developers swung into action so that KDE would work on systems without hardware acceleration, which includes most virtual machines.

systemd, the alternative init system, becomes available for testing in M3 with version 11.  To test systemd, install it, then reboot with init=/bin/systemd as described by Andreas Jaeger. Otherwise, the existing SysV init is used.
M3 includes Gnome 2.32 on the desktop, including metacontact support in the Empathy instant messenger and Banshee 1.8 with Amazon MP3 store plugin, KDE 4.5.3, and a number of independent updates including version 0.11 of the Arora browser, the chemistry tool Avogadro 1.0.1 and Licq 1.5, introducing XMPP support to this venerable IM client.
On the productivity front, M3 includes LibreOffice 3.2.99,  a host of additional optional packages for KOffice such as lcms2 giving better colour management and image processing options, and Digikam 1.5.0 including automated lens correction while batch processing multiple images,
Mono 2.8 replaces Mono 2.6 and adds C# 4.0, an new garbage collector and many performance improvements.
At the lower level, Linux kernel 2.6.36 is in, along with smartmontools 5.40 brings SSD support, and Wireshark 1.4 brings many performance improvements and memory footprint reductions.
Due to a new liblzma, delta ISOs from M2 to M3 must be applied using a new version of deltarpm.  Stephan Kulow provides this in his home:coolo Build Service project.
A list of most annoying bugs can be found here. We look forward to your bug reports and test experiences. Automated testing and the openSUSE Factory team have been active to ensure that your download of  M3 will be at least minimally functional.
The next milestone is scheduled for November 25.  openSUSE 11.4 is planned to be released in March 2011.
